It really does flood! Every night we had to skip around the and avoid wet feet! One night, it was unavoidable and we did get wet feet. Glad I just had flip flops and not $500 Italian shoes! Venice was a very unique city. We traveled everywhere by water bus-no cars at all. During the day the cruise ships dropped off hundreds of people. It was literally shoulder to shoulder. We started to referring to all of them as "storm troopers". We were able to escape by jumping over to an island beach resort and hitting the beach.
Andy did get a chance to venture to the casinos and try a hand at poker. We thought the language would be a barrier, but evidently cards are a "universal language" and he was able to pay for our hotel in cash with his winnings. Yeah!
The highlight of Venice was our gondola ride through the canals. We brought a bottle of wine and reflected on how lucky we were for each other and our trip.
