Camping at Mt. Princeton

We celebrated our 3rd anniversary this weekend, but just as life changing, we celebrated 2 years of Mountain Biking together. To celebrate both occassions, we headed to the mountains to do some camping. Because of the holiday weekend, the campgrounds in the state were full, but by chance a friend had a spot at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. We were off! Bikes, dogs, and camper in tow.

Our bike trail of choice was going to be tough. 10 miles up hill climbing several thousand feet in elevation. Unfortunately, we made it tougher by missing our "easy" turn off. We ended up climbing way more than we had to up to the top of the mountain on a bike that was not designed for biking. With the thunderstorm moving in, mental frustration at it's peak, and our bodies depleted, we couldn't even enjoy the view at the top. We hurridedly took a couple of pictures. I think my face tells my mood. What started out as a 3 hour ride, turned into 5 hours. We made it back just in time before the storm hit. After lunch and a rest, we soaked at the hot springs.

Looking back its quite ironic that we climbed a mountain together...a little like marriage. Always climbing new peaks together.

The dogs enjoyed their weekend too. They made themselves at home in the camper. We camped next to a river they could swim in and did a short hike up to a waterfall. Who said bulldogs aren't meant for the mountains?
