Our annual summer trip to Michigan was a success. Max did wonderful on the airplane and my hope is he will become a nice little traveler. We upgraded our tickets to first class and you should have seen the looks we got when I sat down with an infant!
We spent as much time as we could with Great Mimi and Papa. They sure enjoyed loving on him and hearing him "talk" to them.
My friends Janelle and Amy threw us a "Meet Max" shower. Since my time in Michigan was so short, it was nice to have all my friends in one place. It hit me that I have been friends with my GL girls for almost 20 years! Its incredible that we are all starting families and becoming mothers. Seems like yesterday we were going to prom and playing sports. My MSU girls were also able to attend the party. Our friendships are going on 10 years! Wow! They have a way of always making me feel special by getting together with me when I am in town. My Colorado part of my life was also represented. Mary B (old teaching partner and roommate) was also able to attend with her little girl. Thank you to everyone! We felt showered with love!
Majority of my trip was spent in Iowa with my parents, brothers, and their girlfriends. We went to the Mississppi Valley Fair to show horses. Grandma and Grandpa sure had fun spending as much time as possible with Max. Max loved watching the horse show, but his favorite activity was riding the golf cart. He would be all smiles when the golf cart was moving, but if you stopped he would break out in tears! He also refused to take naps. I think he was afraid to miss something. My family did very well at the horse show and we off to Wisconsin after Iowa. Of course, a summer wouldn't be complete without Grandma having a broken arm! Right before the party, she fell off a ladder! Uncle Brad and Uncle Fred also loved Max in their own way. Brad gave Max his first horse ride, while Fred practices tough love with him.
After 12 days, Daddy was happy to have us home! Max is adjusting to not being held every waking moment of the day by a relative. I guess thats what vacations are for!
One more thought, Max did start the party with clothes on! You know its a good party when the police come or someone ends up naked!
